"Cars" World Premiere at Lowe's Motor Speedway

So my good friend Kirby called me a few weeks ago and asked if I was available to work on the broadcast crew for the premiere of the new Pixar movie "Cars." I said "Heck yea! Boogity Boogity Boogity!!"

I flew into Charlotte on Wednesday night and hit the ground running. We had broadcasts all day on Thursday and Friday. Everything went perfectly. The uplink truck I worked in was parked right behind the red carpet so we were able to see all the celebrity arrivals. It did rain a bit right before the festivities started, but the never failing Disney magic had the rain stop right as the stars started to arrive.

The best part, of course, was the people I got to work with. Kirby and Kenny were there, and the guys from Remote Facilites, Mike and Rich were terrific. I also spent some time with Darla, Nick & Paul.

I flew back on Saturday and drove straight to where Tom, Katie, Maggie and all the cousins were camping in Julian. Unfortunately, my camera battery died and I didn't bring the charger so I don't have any pictures of camping. I'll post what the cousins send me.

All in all, it was a VERY busy long weekend.

Enjoy the photos!
