These are some photos from my last Disneyland gig. Each day, Disneyland is giving away a hotel room stay. That might now sound like much, but did I mention that the hotel room is actually a suite? Oh yea, and it's in New Orleans Square! It's a VERY cool idea. They randomly select a family in the Park each day during the Year of a Million Dreams giveaway. They get to stay in the suite overnight, have the services of a butler, room service and get a backstage/after-hours tour. What a cool deal. I was there directing the live remotes for about a dozen local and regional TV stations.
We had different broadcast locations in each one of the rooms so folks had to stay quiet as they walked from location to location.
Here is the reporter from KPSP in Palm Springs going live during her last hit.
This is Chris, one of our production assistants. He's cold.
The Master Bath. There's a huge walk-in closet just to the left, can there is a jacuzzi tub below that mosaic mural on the wall.
The fireplace is so cool. The fire is just a projection, but every once in a while, a "spark" will fly up over the "flames" and explode like fireworks.
The crew in the livingroom. I know Phil had the title of nicest freelancer, but Mike could also vie for that title. And you can't forget about Darci. She's amazing! Someday I'll figure out a way to steal her away for big events!!
Here's Mike shooting in the living room with the reporter from XETV in San Diego. The woman in the background is Kim Irvine. She was in charge of the whole Dream Suite project. Her family has a long history with Disneyland. Her dad was involved with the building of Disneyland, and her mom was the original Madame Leota, the lady in the crystal ball inside the Haunted Mansion.
Here's another one of my favorite people. Not Minnie. She's a mouse! I'm talking about Vanessa! I wish her luck this week. She's working on the Oscars on Sunday.
And of course, the audio intergrators. They're responsible for all the communications between the live remote site and the television stations. Dave, Dave and Ron are the best in the biz!
