As it turns out, the left side of our kitchen is an inch-and-a-half lower than the right side of our kitchen. So what's the big deal? The installers are hesitant to put in the granite slab unless the area is level. The cabinet guys tried shimming the right side cabinets, but then that would put the countertops higher than the kitchen window. Not a professional look, to say the least. So right now I'm a bit nervous that we've spent hundreds of dollars on a beautiful slab that I can no longer put in our kitchen. I'm sure it will all work out, and I'm thankful to God that this is my biggest problem, but you know. Not fun times. I have a call into the granite place to see what other options we have.
In the meantime, the mosaic tile has arrived and our fireplace is being finished right now. The work continues in the kitchen. Both projects are taking a day longer than promised. . . big surprise there, huh? They say that it always takes 50% longer and 50% more money to do remodels than you budget, so I guess we're right on target.
Meanwhile, I'm continuing to edit a video for Car Crazy in my office. It's actually coming out pretty good. I'll put a link to it on the blog when it's uploaded to their site.
Anyway, stay tuned for more updates!
