As promised, here are photos of our camping trip to Julian.
We had a great time. It was a bit cold for the little ones, so Karen and Robin spent nights 2 and 3 at an inn in town with Jacob and Joshua. Mike and Robin braved the elements (and the allergens) for the first time, but found that camping wasn't their thing. Bummer! We'll just have to go on a cousin vacation where room service is involved!!
The boys brought home half the dirt from the campsite. . . on their hands, in their hair, on their clothes. . . I'm sure you get the picture.
Maggie LOVED Junior, Mike and Robin's new puppy. She had a great time trying to show her parents that she's responsible enough for a dog. Unfortunately, Katie and I are allergic to dogs, so that's not happening.
Tom was the keeper of the FIRE! (insert some caveman-esque grunting here). At one point during the trip he discovered a tiny grey mouse in the woodpile. He tried to shoo it, but it scurried up the tree next to our site. About 5 minutes later, that mouse fell twenty feet off an overhanging branch on to a chair and right into Tom's jacket. Thankfully, Tom wasn't wearing it at the time. He shook out his coat and the mouse fell to the ground, ran to the tree and scurried up again. We were all a bit hesitant to sit under the tree after that.
Thanks to Karen and Robin for sending me pictures.
