It's never good when you see your friends house on the news durning a brush fire. Our friends, Andy and Sheryl who live at the top of the hill had the fire come right down to their backyard. The fire department defended their house and they didn't lose a thing. . .except for their neighbors who had a palm tree catch fire and had their patio cover and patio furniture toasted.
Michael and Robin who live in Portola Hills on the edge of Whiting Ranch had the fire come right up to their yard as well. I spoke to Michael and he said that the hills were black, but they didn't even have smoke marks on their house. Amazing. I'm glad they left as soon as the firetrucks pulled up to their neighbors house.
As it stands now, the fire is burning in Mojeska Canyon, and up Glen Ranch Road at the other end of Foothill Ranch. The winds are calm, so hopefully this thing will burn itself out soon.
As I was taking the kids to school, I had them snap a few more photos.
Ash in our backyard.
Ash on the car - - Hello Maggie!
I'm sure this is just terrific for my paint.
